Prison Arte Pelican Bay







Here is some art from some of the fellas up in Pelican Bay, these guys are all in S.H.U program locked down 23 hrs a day 1 hr yard time in an enclosed are alot of times solo.. Its a harsh life to live but some of the most beatiful and best art work is never seen i will be posting more fliks later..

i actually do know one guy but i know a few people that correspond with SHU inmates and set up art shows for them to show their work and sell work as well but its very hard to organize these shows because the cdcr which is the prison system hates bascially they give a hard time to the people trying to work with the inmates accusing them of illegal activity but aside that they work hard to get the artwork seen...i will post more pix soon

Hello Jaime,

Thanks for the info,So far there has been 3 art shows with inmate work from Pelican bay I will keep my eyes open and let you know if anything comes up =)

I owned one of the places that held a Pelican Bay Prison art show (June 2007). Very powerful drawings and very interesing biographies of the artists.

I know a network of artists in PB shu. All these artists are wanting and willing to share their story along with their art. Let me know if I can share some pieces.
